Former speed skater and current Chinese Senator Ye Qiaobo runs with the flame in BC, and connects with Canada’s Olympic Ambassador Nancy Greene Raine

Ye Qiabo, China’s first ever medalist at the Olympic Winter Games, was in Osoyoos and Kamloops as she took part in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. After her relay run, Ye headed up to Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops to take in some runs with Canadian Olympic champion skier and senator Nancy Greene Rain. Video and photo package includes footage of Ms. Ye’s summer trip to Canada’s only true desert in Osoyoos, including footage of her golfing, visiting a First Nations owned and operated winery, and horse back riding. Philippe Candeloro carries the flame at Wanuskewin Heritage Centre, Saskatchewan

Famous for portraying exciting historic and literary figures in his routines, iconic French figure skater Philippe Candeloro was in Saskatchewan to soak in a little history and culture, and a lot of Olympic Spirit, Canadian-style! Video / photo package includes footage of Mr. Candeloro’s run with the flame, as well as him performing a back flip on skates in front of young figure skaters, exploring outdoor ice sculptures and enjoying a ride through the enchanted forest light display. Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards runs with the flame in Winnipeg

The Eagle has landed in Canada…again! Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards was back in Canada for another shot at Olympic history. At the 1988 Calgary Winter Games Edwards became the first person from the UK to qualify for the Olympic Winter Games in ski jumping. Edwards’ unlikely story endeared him to fans in Calgary and around the world. Mr. Edwards returned to Canada, this time in Winnipeg, as an international torchbearer with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch relay. Video package contains footage and interviews clips from his run; and footage of him curling, climbing an ice tower, and ice skating on the Assiniboine River. Indian superstar Akshay Kumar enjoyed a visit to “Bollywood North” as he ran with the Olympic flame in Toronto. Akshay’s day in Canada’s largest city included a visit to the CN Tower before a large contingent of his fans lined the streets to witness his run. As the flame passed through Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto highlights included a visit to Montreal’s Olympic Stadium (1976 Summer Games) and a run by producer/director Ivan Reitman. Olympic silver medallist and five-time German cross-country champion Peter Schlickenrieder interacted with locals and had a blast in Quebec city as he visited to run in the Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay. In addition to his 2002 Olympic silver medal and the dominance of his sport in Germany, Schlickenrieder is a three-time World Cup champion. Today he is a sports commentator, columnist, author and active randonnée (alpine touring) skier. Brazil’s César Cielo, Olympic gold medallist and current world-record holder in the 100-m freestyle, ran with the Olympic Flame at the stunning Hopewell Rocks, on the coast of New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy. César experienced NB and Toronto, tasting some east coast lobster and exploring the CN Tower, even fitting in practise time in a local pool, before running with the flame amongst rock formations created by the highest tides in the world. Yang Yang, China’s first ever Olympic Winter Games gold medalist, and the first person to carry the Olympic flame on mainland China in 2008, ran as an international torchbearer for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch relay on Prince Edward Island. In previous visits to Canada, Ms Yang enjoyed the extraordinary experiences of Nova Scotia, PEI and Montreal. Video package contains footage of Yang Yang carrying the flame in PEI and enjoying summer and winter experiences including tidal bore rafting, Celtic dancing lesson and fiddling, shopping in Montreal and oyster shucking in PEI. Taking in the Halifax farmers market, traditional music, and a lobster feast, the future speed skating commentator for Japan’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Games made the most of her time on Canada’s east coast. The Olympic flame passed through Canada’s North on a 10-day portion of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. The flame was passed by NBC sportscaster and former tennis star Mary Carillo, carried on a ride on a chuckwagon, and even delayed due to a polar bear on the road. Visuals capture the Torch being carried through Canada’s northernmost cities and communities. Australian aerial skier Alisa Camplin couldn’t have been more excited as she explored Canada’s North and ran with the Olympic Torch in the Yukon. Video package includes footage of Alisa’s Torch run as well as her enjoying a dog sled experience, aerial sightseeing flight, and a visit with local elementary school kids. Video package also contains scenic and action footage of activities in and around Dawson City including snowmobiling and the Yukon Quest dog race, as well as a 1:00 minute introduction section highlighting the second week of torch activities in BC including a visit to the Queen Charlotte Islands where the flame was welcomed by the Haida First Nations and carried in a traditional First Nations war canoe.

South Korean short track speedskater Lee Kyung Chun completed her Olympic Torch relay experience in Canada as she ran in Tofino, BC. Her run day in Tofino was the scene of many dramatic moments as the flame was held briefly by a surfer riding a wave at Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park, and as Ms Chun passed the flame off to a skateboarder who took it through Tofino’s skate park. Video package includes footage of the first week of the Torch relay, including the flame being rowed across Elk Lake by Canada’s eights rowing team, Torch launch celebrations in Victoria, a surfer carrying the flame on a wave, and Ms. Chun’s run in Tofino, BC. US Olympic Snowboarder Hannah Teter trades her snowboard for a surfboard on pre games trip to Tofino, BC

Before Hannah Teter attempts to win her second career gold medal at the 2010 Winter Games, she was connecting with Canadians in Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island, enjoying a variety of Canada’s extraordinary tourism experiences. Hosted in Canada by the Canadian Tourism Commission and its tourism partners, Teter and her family had a chance to meet locals, have adventures and make memories before their eventual return in February. Video package includes interviews with Hannah discussing her visit to the Tofino area, as well as footage of Hannah and her family enjoying unique Canadian experiences. Footage also includes a West Coast seafood feast and interview discussing “Hannah’s Gold”, Hannah’s charity supporting a village in Kenya, Africa.

US Paralympic hopeful Caitlin Sarubbi and family Connect with Canadians in pre-games trip to Newfoundland and Labrador

Caitlin Sarubbi is a 19-year-old from New York City who’s a rising star in the world of adaptive skiing. Sarubbi has one of the rarest medical conditions on earth, but that doesn’t stop her from hurtling downhill at speeds of 100 kilometers an hour, using a sighted skier as a guide. It also didn’t stop her and her family from enjoying a recent trip to Canada prior to returning to compete in 2010 Winter Paralympics. Video package includes an interview with Sarubbi about her Olympic ambitions and her impressions of Whistler, footage of Sarubbi and her family enjoying a tour of historic Signal Hill overlooking St. John’s, whale watching and other experiences including connecting with local firefighters.

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay kicks off in Victoria, BC.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, presented by Coca-Cola and RBC and supported by the Government of Canada, began its amazing Canadian journey Oct 30th in Victoria, BC. 15 well-known world citizens are adding global intrigue and excitement to the longest domestic torch relay in Olympic history by participating as Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torchbearers. The first runner kicked off the program on Nov. 1. This video package, the first in a series, includes footage of the beginning of the flame’s trip in Greece, day one Torch celebrations in Victoria BC. Footage also introduces destination locations where the Torch will be carried by the world citizens nominated by VANOC in collaboration with the Canadian Tourism Commission.

Chinese women’s curling team explores Canada before competing in 2010 Winter Games

China’s women’s curling team celebrated its recent world championship win with a visit to Ontario, connecting with Canadians in Toronto and Niagara Falls, and enjoying a variety of Ontario’s tourism experiences. Skip Wang Bingyu, also known as “Betty”, and her teammates had a chance to meet locals, explore Toronto and experience Niagara Falls from the water and the sky. They will both be returning to Canada this February to take park in the 2010 Winter Games. Video package includes interviews with Wang in English, plus interviews with Wang and teammate Liu Yin in Mandarin, as well as footage of the Chinese women’s team visiting the St. Lawrence Market, Toronto Islands, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and Niagara Falls by helicopter and boat.
